Funko: Spider-Man BLUE (Collector Corps)

Funko Collector Corps! Funny enough this isn't the first time I got one of these in my possession, earlier this year I was gifted the Luchadors (Spidey, Venom, & Wolverine) but I didn't review it as one set. For Spider-Man BLUE, yeah it's going to be one set. So enough of that intro. Let's get into the contents, shall we?

This is a gift from a very special person in my life. Why it's called BLUE? Well, the obvious thing is that the POPs inside are painted that way. That is symbolic of Spider-Man himself.

First, let's talk about the non-POP merchandise inside. Collector Corps comes with a sticker, a shirt, and a pin. Kind of an odd choice of sticker since I was under the impression this is a Spider-Man and Gwen theme, but hey, MJ is MJ. The pin makes sense for Peter--huge pin too. The shirt is a POP-style graphic tee which I'm all for. It comes with a lot of goodies, that's for sure.

Now let's talk about the POP inside: Gwen Stacy! It will be odd with the POP not being the main course in terms of leading the review, but if I keep getting gifted Collector Corps sets, then it will be somewhat familiar--maybe I have more coming? I'm spoiled, I know. On to Gwen Stacy then!

The box art is awesome! I like how they stuck with the blue color throughout!

She is a bobblehead. Also, she got that cocked eyebrow!

The POP itself is neat because it embodies Gwen Stacy as she was between the mid-1960s and early 1970s. The casual outfit with the headband, that signature pencil skirt, and boots--Gwen Stacy and all sculpted with care. There's even a wrinkle sculped on her skirt and boots! I love that. As far as the pose, it's got that Gwen Stacy sass. Love her signature hair represented within Funko's stylized POP form. All in all, this is all well done.

I love the red heart that completely stands out from the rest of the blue colored POP.

The coloring is a gimmick that I highly appreciate. It's called "Spider-Man BLUE" so it makes sense that the majority of the POP is blue with different light and dark pigments. Of course, there are some black, but overall, it's dominantly blue and it's done well. The one thing I do like about this gimmick is that the one item colored red. In Gwen's case, it's the heart she's holding. I'm assuming it's a heart box of chocolates.

Here is the original Gwen Stacy next to Spiderverse Spider-Gwen and the comic book Spider-Gwen. Honestly, the entire Spider-Gwen is so recent that most people don't even remember Gwen Stacy other than her death.

That's it for Gwen Stacy. It's a good POP overall. The way she's posed, sculpted, and of course, colored, it's all well done. By herself as a POP? Would Gwen be a good POP on her own? For some, yes. As a character, Gwen is a milestone. The POP itself is standard and I'm pleased with it.

Another Spider-Man POP! The Spiderverse collection is growing beyond belief, ain't it? My special friend is a big help, for sure!

Same aesthetics in regards to the box.

Bobblehead Spidey!

This is an interesting pose for a Spider-Man--POP, artwork, statue, comic book cover-- it's odd to see Spider-Man so posed docile and calm, and not exhibiting his agility. It's usually significant when Spider-Man is just standing like that. Given the symbolisms of Spidey in a muted blue color, standing with a serious tone, holding a rose. Given that it's about him and Gwen, I'd say this is a perfect pose. The sculpting with Spidey's costume is well done and I always appreciate those sculpted lines for his webs. I love the eyes too. It's a well-done figure, for sure.

Love the way the rose just stands out.

The colors are just as good with Spidey as it was with Gwen. He has less black and it's a costume so there are a bit more logos and extremes. I like how the spiders on his chest and back are executed. The lone red rose is a nice touch. It adds some symbolic depth to an already historic couple of Peter and Gwen.

I picked Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Man POPs from the Amazon 3-pack because they look the most 'classic' Spider-Man next to BLUE. From dynamic Spidey poses to a very neutral one--they look good together, eh?

It's a unique enough Spidey POP. I know, it's a simple, good old-fashioned Spider-Man with stylized proportions. It's spectacular. Symbolic and a bit creative.

I love this Collector Corps Box! The POPs are amazing, they play their part well. The other items are also a good complement to the theme. I can't thank my friend enough for getting me this. These two might make the list for 2024.

Until Next Time!
