Does anyone hear that gong? Yeah, that's right! The Undertaker is here! Wearing his classic New Generation outfit, the Phenom is here to choke-slam some jobbers to hell to maintain his undeniable streak! So with the intro out of the way, let's get to the review of this POP, shall we?
Classic Undertaker music!
The set isn't all that interesting to me. Not to say that I don't appreciate Kurt Angle or the Hotrod, I'm just saying that as POPs, none of them appeal to me.
I prefer his Attitude outfit the best--not his Dark Ministry look, but the one he wore during that Hell in a Cell against Mankind (King of the Ring-06/28/98). But the purple is classic. Of course, this isn't his original outfit, but it still takes us all pretty far back. This was his outfit when he fought his clone and it's where the color purple started to get associated with the Dead Man. As far as the POP version, it does a good job of capturing that look. The signature purple gloves are sculped nice along with the matching boots. I like the wrinkles on his shirt. The work on his hair is also nice as it droops over his face--the eyes are still under those bangs too. The pose is odd and doesn't say "Undertaker" to me. I believe it's his 'RIP' calling card. His signal to indicate that the Tombstone is coming. At least, it's what I see when I look at this pose. It's a great idea, though I don't think this sculpt work got the essence of said pose. But, hey, at least they tried, right?
The detailing on his gloves and boots--definitely a plus!
The colors are pretty simple. The black and purple are vibrant and glossy. I have a small complaint when it comes to his skin color and hair: his hair should be darker and his skin needed to be pale. I do remember Taker always having makeup during this era of his WWF run. I appreciate the lighter skin tone though so it's not too bad. All in all, this area does its job decently.
Kind of a morbid thing to put POP Undertaker and POP Eddie Guerrero considering we are still mourning Latino Heat's untimely passing.
While not my favorite outfit for the Deadman, it is still something to harken back to the olden days of WWF (yes, not WWE). While I won't be going out of my way to nab wrestling POPs, certain moments of the classic days and the Monday Night Wars I just might. Worth buying? For any fans of Undertaker/fans of professional wrestling, I'd say this is a win.
Until Next Time!
