Funko POP: Superior Octopus

Updated: Oct 11

Yes, this box is pretty jacked up. Every once in a while, I come across a POP on sale on Amazon and you know me! I don't care much for the box except for storage (for seasonal POPs). Seeing Superior Octopus for a cheaper price enticed me so here we are with a review. Let's get to it, shall we? And yes, taking a quick break from Halloween POPs and to another Spider-Man POP.

Yes, this POP was a Walgreens exclusive! I want Spider-Armor MKIII! Of course, I already have that POP Scream.

Yes, he is a bobblehead!

I am unaware of what happened and how we got Superior Octopus. I know the Superior Spider-Man storyline had something to do with this guy. But honestly, I'm not too invested in the whys because I am more interested in the costume design. It still looks like a Spider-man outfit but has a bit of Doc Ock flare to it--and no, not just the tentacles. Maybe it's the glasses and his new logo but he just spells out Dock Ock as a Spider-Man. How does this all translate to a POP? yeah, I love it. The pose isn't too action-like, but it does the job. His arms are posed to the side but still have an aggressive stance, his body tilted to the side while his head is posed to look forward. His gauntlets has a lot of good details and the sculpt on his goggles gives this POP depth. But most of all, one can't help but notice the iconic tentacles--the way they're posed as if they're about to ensnare some poor gal and use her as bait for Parker. I like how the intricate tentacles stand out against his, otherwise, simply sculpted body.

In this profile, the details are more obvious.

Detail on his tentacles and his... backpack(?) are pretty cool.

The colors carry this POP more than they should. The colors are mute and a bit on the dark side with a tint of that earthly green to make everything else stand out. The sliver helps out too and they all just work well together. All the colors work perfectly well together so no complaints here--in fact, I rather like how it all came together.

Eight-legged, spider-armed, and tentacled Spider-Men. I placed them here for no reason other than comparing other Spider-Men with extra limbs; oh, and they're Spider-Men. Both are from the Insomniac Spider-Man games too.

I love the Superior Spider-Man look! It's an older POP so it's got some age compared to POP Superior Spider-Man. But only right that they put them together.

This guy is a pretty good-looking POP and he's got some definite wins. I love the colors, the pose fits, and the tentacles do the action for it. I wouldn't say it's a must but Otto over here really fits into the Spiderverse idea. I got him for a good price so I'm not going to complain. It's an overall win for me!

Until Next Time!
