Surprise! A Marvel POP! Yeah, this one wasn't in my radar, but when I came across Sunfire (and another POP) on sale, I couldn't pass them up! So was the sale worth it? Is the POP as cool as he looks? Let's find out!

This is a short and sweet set. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having all three!

The Age of Apocalypse event came out with some unique designs for some of Marvel's most popular characters--for this case, it's an X-Men focused story, so we got to see characters like Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and other recognizable characters get a change in their usual aesthetics. But obscure characters like Sunfire over here got themselves a change as well. Sunfire in this reality looks like a Deadra. That aesthetic transferred adequately through the work of sculpting, giving him the blazing body. The mask on his face framed by the flames on his head is pretty good!

The pose is fitting. He's a flying mutant, so Funko put Sunfire into a floating posture. The figurine stand, of course, has to be a bit more pronounced.

The colors are all dependent on the translucent plastic that the POP is made of. It's a nice color, and it truly does make it look like that Shiro Yoshida loos like he is made out of fire. The black colors all over his body give him a good contrast and make him stand out from a typical Human Torch look. I love that mask too! It resembles a kabuki mask but not as intricate as the norm; though it does have the Red Sun for Japan's sun. All in all, he looks amazing.

Here is Sunfire next to my only two other fiery characters. He's definitely out of his league next to Ghost Panther and Dark Phoenix, eh? But as a POP, I'd say he's challenging them.

The Age of Apocalypse continuity ended with AoA Apocalypse siding with the baddies and inadvertently killing Sunfire. Ain't that something? But here are two elementals next to each other!
POP: Elementals?

All in all, he's a good-looking POP. This version of Sunfire is, for sure, my favorite version of him since that design is... fire. Pun intended. This POP has been out for a while, and I got a good deal, so I'm pretty happy. I highly recommend! Got a lot of good things going for him! Great pose, awesome sculpting, and that coloring is just something else. I am 100% happy with this purchase!
Until Next Time!
