If you didn't think I'd have another Spider-Man POP by the end of the year you are terribly mistaken! Here's another one for 2024! Let's get to the review, shall we?
This is a really good set! There's a few here I wouldn't mind having--I wouldn't mind having all of them, to be fair.
This particular suit is a bit obscure and, honestly, it came from the story arc that I can honestly say got me to stop reading comics. Yes, that's right folks--Fear Itself is the one that got me out of following the Marvel 616 comic book universe. As far as this POP though, there are plenty of things to like! First I'm going to point out my usuals: the pose! I love the pose! He's not web-slinging, but the dynamic-jumping at-something-someone display is always nice to me! I do love the gauntlets that he got from Asgard, the web linings, and all of the other sculptwork that I look for with a Spidey POP are all present. Very good presentation all in all.
The idea of this suit is that it's empowered by Asgardian magic--or something (Jessica Drew didn't get power by the way). In the comics, it has a bit of a glow, so that part is missing from the coloring. It tried to do something with it by adding a glow-in-the-dark gimmick (more on that), but the colors aren't a stand-out. The coloring execution is just fine though. The patterns and design and the logo on his chest are all we did. I love the muted blue color. While not completely in line with the comic book, the POP still does what it can to remain accurate.
What a varied and goofy team of Spider-Men, eh? Honestly, Fear Itself Spidey would hit the hardest.
They're Blue... da ba dee da bada.... da ba dee da bada... Okay, I'm gonna stop now.
Yes, got a red & blue Spider-Man in the mix. The Osborn suit is a definite sleeper hit since I didn't expect it to be this damn good-looking!
The glow-in-the-dark look isn't bad at all. The eyes, the design, and the spider logo all get the glowing treatment and I do like it. The gauntlets should've also had the glowing effect since it is the Asgardian weapon that has the most Uru in it. But that's just me complaining.
So can I recommend this POP? As someone who wasn't a fan of the arc, I'd say I can still recommend the POP since it gives us another suit for Spidey that doesn't have the worst design in the world. It's got a nice pose and the colors are pretty solid on mine. The glow gimmick works out fine. I can recommend this one for sure. Got a lot of what you'd expect from a Spider-Man POP and it's a unique and obscure suit that got some limelight from the 2018 Spider-Man game and through this POP.
Until Next Time!
