Absolute Carnage Gwen! Or Spider-Gwen... Ghost Spider... whatever! This is a new series that I'm interested in so you may see a couple of these POPs within the next few weeks. Starting with Gwen! Let's see how this one is, shall we?
The Absolute Carnage series is an interesting one. The characters they chose are a bit on the safe side but I guess one has to garner more support with mainstream characters before going towards the obscure ones, right? Jessica Drew Carnage, please?
The pose is what got me for this one! I love crouching Spider-People poses because they add more variety to my growing Spiderverse collection (yes, she's going on my Spiderverse wall). And I do love that transition sculpt between regular Spider-Gwen and Carnage-Gwen! I love how the hood moves like a symbiote as it forms that infamous Carnage face on her face. Definitely a good balance of simplicity and utter chaos. That theme is consistent throughout Gwen's body, though her lower half is a bit more Carnage(d) out. Though maybe some claws for her right hand would've done some good. Other than that small nitpick, they did a good job in this department.
The colors chosen and the execution are all aligned with each other. There are a lot of moving parts with this POP so seeing the white, pink, teal, red, and black all mesh together so smoothly is a nice thing to see. I really can't complain when it comes to this.
Spider-Carnage! The original Absolute Carnage character. That arc happened when Ben Reilly was the "original" Spider-Man and Venomizing/Carnage'ing characters weren't common--at all.
I have one more Gwen that's not posing with these gals. Absolute Carnage Gwen really does stand out.
Yes, my 'main' Carnage POP next to Absolute Carnage Gwen! I do think it's time for another Carnage but for now, it works.
A cool concept? Yeah. Original? Not really but it works. There are a lot of good things going on with this POP but there are a lot of contrasting things that might not work out for everyone. I recommend. It's a well-done POP with clean colors, a cool pose, and a pretty popular character. I recommend it for sure.
Until Next Time!
