Another Absolute Carnage POP and this time it's none other than everyone's favorite shell head, aka, Iron Man! I was always interested in the idea of a symbiote-infested Iron Man... but never really knew how it truly works. But hey, comics do a lot of bonkers stuff. But, let's see what the POP has to offer, eh?
Absolute Carnage series is something else so far.
There is a lot of sculpting going on here. The Carnage-Symbiote-Take-Over is very present and sometimes a bit jarring since it's hard to recognize the ole Shellhead behind all of that. They sculpted him with his familiar 'one arm repulsor blast' pose and, again, all that absolute Carnage going on added much more than usual. I love every piece of Carnage present with Tony--the way it's just melding, 'moving' and invading. It's just well done and the way every piece of the symbiote is made gives that 'organic' look of an ooze moving around Iron Man. My words can do it justice but all in all, it's a piece that can be appreciated more when one has this POP in person.
One can see more of that detail with this side of the profile. I love those tendrils shooting out like that!
Iron Man is mostly red with a bit of yellow/gold. Carnage is mostly red and black. Funko made sure that neither characters color scheme got lost in all this symbiote take-over. Both Stark and Carnage's red are two different shades and one can differentiate, the peeking color of gold is still prominent despite the chaos of the black and red symbiote, the bright white eyes stick out, and all in all, the paint job is executed cleanly. I'm impressed!
I know that this Carnage isn't the majority's bread-and-butter Carnage POP, but it's the only comic book version I have. They do look good together.
One thing I will say when putting POP Absolute Carnage Iron Man next to POP Absolute Carnage Spider-Gwen is that I wish they gave Iron Man the 'half face' treatment. Would like to see a part of ole Shellhead.
Here is POP Absolute Carnage Iron Man next to other "what-ifs" POP Iron Men. One is a MCU adaptation, one is a comic book event, and Absolute Carnage is a Funko concept.
POP: Iron Men & Carnaged
This isn't a must-have, if I was to be honest. However, those who pull the trigger, one will be treated with a very chaotic and detailed POP. I am not quite sure it did a good job balancing Iron Man and Carnage visually. Colorwise, it did manage to impress. As the second POP I got from this wave, I'm still leaning on the positive side of things. Let's see if I get any more and where the streak lies. All in all, I don't think this is a disappointment, but I don't think it's a must for Iron Man/POP collectors.
Until Next Time!
