One more to finish 2024! Another blacklight POP from the Iron Man "Infinity Saga" lineup! And yes, this is Mark V. It is one of my favorite armor pieces! let's get to it, shall we?
This set is something else, for sure. I want that jumbo Hulkbuster so bad! Definitely don't have the room for him though.
Mark V, aka the Suitcase Armor, is one of my favorite pieces of MCU armor. It's the first time we've got a glimpse of a Silver Centurion in the MCU. Not to mention, the suitcase is a homage to the comics trying to justify how Stark carried the armor around. With that said, the suit had a lot of that MCU flavor: mechanical movement moving parts, rigid lines, very metallic frame without being too bulky or smooth. A lot of the action figures I have owned with Mark V replicated all those details and this POP did not shortcut. There is a lot of sculpt work put into this and one can see all the neat details of the armor. The pose is also gratuitous for the collector to admire every inch of the work. It's also a pose that happened in the movie, so there's that. All in all, great job in this area!
The colors are pretty .... vibrant, to say the least. It is part of the Black Light gimmick, so it will be a little inaccurate; gone is the sliver and read, and now we have a pastel pink and some odd blue. It is well done in terms of paint execution. There are a lot of small parts here and there and Funko managed to get the tiny little areas painted. No complaints at all.
Here is POP: Mark V black light next to two MCU POPs I own. He sticks out with that color, but give it the regular Silver Centurion look and he fits right in!
Speaking of black light gimmicked POP, here is my first one, POP: Daredevil "Shadowland" black light next to POP: Mark V!
I know a Hot Toy comparison with a POP is not fair. They are not in the same league by any metric! But it's always fun to see what two vastly different figures of the same characters would look like right next to each other.
POP: MCU Iron Men & Black Light Daredevil
I got this POP back in November and was only able to review him now. While not exactly breaking any records with this POP, I do appreciate the homage to Iron Man 2, the amazing details, and the idea of black light is something I got into this year. Can I recommend it? Of course! However, for those who want a Mark V POP, this isn't a one-for-one POP due to the coloring gimmick.
Until Next Time!
