Funko POP: Darth Vader (ART Series - Endor)

What is this? I know I am not into Star Wars. I barely have talked about it on my blog so when I have a random POP show up, it's either a gift or a free merch. This one wasn't free but it was a 'mystery buy' for a cheap price. Is it worth the low dollars I spent? Or is it worth more? Let's find out.

This is a ... an odd series. The Art Series had always looked odd to me so, yeah. The box for this is nice though.

So the mold itself is good. It has all the details one needs to recognize the most popular Sith in all of Star Wars medium. The helmet is molded quite well, the suit, the cape, and even his pose are quite Darth Vade-like. And from all the Star Wars POPs I've seen, they come with this base that just wants it known that you are getting a Star Wars character. The biggest issue I've always had with the ART Series whenever I saw them in promotional videos and/or art is that they kind of take away from the POP itself because the artwork is distracting and odd. Darth Vader over here is no exception to the rule.

I like the pose. Very classic Darth Vader there.

Now the coloring, the paint, and the gimmick are where the POP falls apart for me. The colors are aligned with the forest theme of Endor. It's representing the trees, the lush green life, etc, etc. I get the idea but it just doesn't ring with me. As an art form and it's execution, the leaves look good, the brown makes the POP look wood in texture, and honestly, there's no paint mishap. I can give the credit there but in terms of the gimmick complimenting the POP/character? I don't see it.

Yes, the POP: Mandolorian w/ Grogu is my only other Star Wars POP. But I can appreciate the Mandalorian more than POP: Darth Vader - Art Series.

I'm sure the regular version of this Darth Vader POP has more things for me to enjoy than this version. Then again, I'm no Star Wars fan so I don't have a lot of weight with my opinions. I will say that sculpt and color execution is done well. But I'll continue to avoid this series. So was it worth the price of it being a mystery box? No? Recommend? No. Though it is a fun footnote to have.
