Funko POP: Daredevil "Shadowland" (Blacklight)

Updated: Oct 12

This is a different POP, right? This is another subseries within Funko POPs--a series called "Blacklight". Just from one glance, the gimmick for this series is obvious: what would POP characters look like with altered coloring with blacklight lighting in mind? As my first blacklight POP, I'm very excited about this one. Also, it's Daredevil so it's a win. Let's get into the review, shall we?

The box aesthetics are pretty nice! A bit more on the darker side compared to the standard bright boxes of POP. I'm not entirely sure if putting a blacklight will actually do the trick but, hey, the colors are nice.

A bobblehead!

I love this pose! Right off the get-go, the way he is posed is one of this Daredevil POP's selling points for me. I love that crouched pose, the way he has his baton out, action-ready and very Daredevil-like. It's also the classic "Superhero" pose so it's a definite win. As far as the details go, I do like what they've done. The boots and gloves received the sculpt work like the laces and wrapped look. I also appreciate the way his horns accurately resemble how Matt has them in the comics. No complaints here, that's for sure!

Love how his other baton is still sheathed away.

The paint job is cleanly executed. The shadowing details and the color choices are all pretty good. Since the coloring is the gimmick of the Blacklight POP, it had to be good, right? That purple color, contrasted by the fluorescent pink and complimented by the black shadowing-- it's quite good. The pale yellow for the skin and the fluorescent blue for Daredevil's batons are all well-picked.

Funny enough, the Venomized Daredevil is the only other POP I have of the Man Without Fear. I'll eventually get a "regular" Daredevil POP, I swear.

This series, gimmick and all, definitely has its place for POP collectors. I wouldn't say I'd want every character in this color scheme, but every once in a while it's not bad. I love the pose, and the coloring, and overall, it's just a good POP. Will I get more blacklight POPs? Not sure. But my first one is a good experience.

Until Next Time!
