Black Panther joins the Absolute Carnage team! This will be a gift for a special little guy so I just got to review it quickly. So let's look at the latest addition fo Absolute Carnage, shall we?
I'm telling you, this set is pretty good so far. The variety could be better since it's mostly Avengers and Spider-Gwen.
The gimmick of a Carnage symbiote taking over another Marvel character isn't unique to the modern day. They've been doing this for some time now (Spider-Carnage) but the Venomized POPs caught on and here we have Carnage versions of the Marvel characters. Black Panther getting the treatment isn't a big surprise since T'Challa gained some popularity thanks to his MCU appearance. And while Black Panther's appearance had always been slick but filled with small details, the Carnage version of him went with the slick look but added some black tendrils, a mouth, and even sharper claws. I love the small portion left from T'challa's original suit; I love how the symbiote is spreading all over his body and that pose is menacing even if simple. The tendrils all over him, sculpted to stick out of his body, adding more depth to this POP. I do love the work Funko put into this.
As I mentioned, his Black Panther suit isn't crazy with details but it does have small nuances and Funko kept the sculpts in as one can see on this side of T'challa. Again, love that transition from Carnage to regular Black Panther.
I love the glossy red! It does contrast with the black which is not as dominant, but the black that is present adds a good juxtapose to the overall look. The small silver popping up also does a fine job of adding more depth. I have no complaint with this department. It's overall, well done.
Here is Absolute Carnage Black Panther next to Carnage/Cletus Kassady! Both have a lot of details going on with them, I swear. Though Cletus is a bit more black than red--which, again, I know! I need a new Carnage POP.
As I mentioned, there has been plenty of Carnaged Marvel characters in the past before the Absolute Carnage series. I know the Daredevil was part of the Venomized series but one always associates Red Symbiote with Carnage, so there's that.
Assembled! This is the series so far and they all have their strengths and weaknesses. All in all, the three that I have, all look good!
POP: Absolute Carnage Team
Out of all the three I've gotten, Absolute Carnage Black Panther is the simplest and not as chaotic one in terms of design and happenings with the symbiote. But it doesn't make it less detailed and less impressive. I'd say I rank this one as second. Recommend? Yes, if you as a collector love the idea of symbiote mash-up characters. As a POP on its merit, he's got details, got a cool pose, and the coloring is just sharp. I love this thing. I'm sure the little guy will too!
Until Next Time!
