April 2, 1994, is a special day. One of the best Final Fantasies came out. It is time to celebrate another game I hold dear to me: Final Fantasy VI (known as FF3 in the west when originally released). The Final Fantasy remains in my top two favorite Final Fantasy (Along with FFX/X3, of course). Also, it's no secret that FFVI holds one of my Vixens, Terra Branford. But not going to take away from the game's other amazing characters like Edgar, Sabin, Celes, Locke, Shadow, etc. The story is amazing. The gameplay is as classic turn-based and only a select few games like FFVI and FFX can hold my attention these days (played a ton of these in the past so I deserve my time). And, I know! I'm a bit late to post something but here we are, right?
Fanart
Of course, FFVI is in no shortage of amazing artwork from the amazing talent that exists out there. Going to try to add more things than Terra Branford's art share. With that said, let's get into this, shall we?
Bryan Heemskerk has done more good stuff with GIF artwork. I'm sharing this one above since it's iconic for Terra, but Bryan's other FFVI pixel GIF art is something to salivate as an FF6 fan.
I did grow fond of this outfit for Terra. Especially after playing Dissidia NT. It's sexy as much as it is ridiculous. Terra doesn't mind showing off her legs.
Can't talk about FFVI and not highlight Terra, right? Bright and very lively artwork here, for sure. I've always been for green-haired Terra so the outfit above is the one most artists draw with it.
The Figaro brothers are two of my favorite characters from Final Fantasy. They added something to the roster that is beyond their story beats. Gameplay, Edgar and Sabin truly breaks the game when one truly pays them some attention.
Terra's Amano design is her more recognizable look. Not my favorite look for her, but it does work.
And Celes' sprite outfit clashes with her Amano look. I'm not sure which one I like better but as long as they capture that innocent but fierce face, I am all for either costume (or costumes).
Ah! Kefka. His final form really is something to marvel at. And he was a few odd years before Sephiroth came down in his One-Winged Angel form. Kefka truly took the opposite energy from what his 'jester' look gives off. In this form, he looks imposing and that 'final boss' feel.
Now this is my favorite look for Terra. It's more, or less, a detailed and sensible take on her 'sprite' look. I definitely used it a lot during my days in Dissidia NT.
Speaking of Sprite-look, here we are with Obstinatemelon's take on the sprites' aesthetics that the FFVI characters got. A far cry from their Amano look.
Vhyrel definitely has had some great takes on Terra. I appreciate them all!
Funny enough, I did play FFVI on PSX too. The Final Fantasy Anthology was nice because it gave us CG renders of FFVI along with a new outfit for Terra. This artwork also captures another good moment from FFVI. I still remember using this area to grind some levels.
How can we forget about Sabin suplexing the Ghost Train? Meme legend.
See what I mean about a contrasting look from Kekfa's final form?
Casual Terra who is secretly a half-Esper beauty.
Shadow is another fantastic ninja inside the Final Fantasy universe. Can't say if he's my favorite ninja but I will say he's high up there.
Gotta love these two. Fire and ice, though? Not sure if I can compare the duo in such a way.
And then, of course, the two love birds from FFVI: Celes and Locke.
The trek to Narshe and the action that happens inside the village. Also, the Magitek looks completely different from the Amano design referenced by FFXIV.
Terra's Esper form is sexy in its way. Happip gave Terra's bosoms some heart artwork and the like.
The art above is one of my favorite Terra Branford artworks out there. Something very vibrant and majestic about them. The background also pays homage to the usual aesthetics with cover art involving Terra Branford. I love the distant form of the Magitek Armor the best. Terra is also beautiful, confident, and a serene expression.
COMMISSIONS
No secret that I went on and did some damage with some commissions. A lot of DiD themes, of course, but some don't lean that way. Here are some of them take a gander and ENJOY!
It's no secret that Terra is one of my Victorious Vixens. That much should be obvious by now, right?
And it's no secret that my main four get into DiD as much as they are kicking butt.
I know, I'm late, but Final Fantasy VI deserved my attention. I just didn't want to post some pictures and a thank you. I wanted to gather some fantastic collections from the fandom and some of my commissions. There are so many other fanarts and works out there and I can't share everything which I would if I could.
The story, the characters, the music, the gameplay... this game brings me back to simpler times, and when while it's not the high-octane gameplay that I crave for now, it still is a fun game.
Happy 30th birthday, Final Fantasy VI. Thank you.
Until Next Time!
