We're finally here! Castlevania Nocturne! A fantastic follow-up to the original Castlevania Netflix series, which I adore quite fondly. Also helped that it was going off Castlevania III Curse of Dracula, a personal favorite NES classic for me. So now we have this series which is going off the events before Castlevnia Symphony of the Night. Amazing.
Richter Belmont and Maria Renard are two of the main casts. Characters who were once prominent characters during Castlevania's popular run in the gaming world. The pictures above are from their Symphony of the Night official artwork; my favorite versions of them, of course.
Both Richter and Maria get a Netflix adaptation of their looks and truth be told, I do like what they were going for.
I also like the fact that Maria got herself into a situation. Definitely didn't expect that and believe me, it's for sure more than appreciated.
Then there's this guy. Olrox comes in, seemingly as the main baddie the moment the series started. Being the first powerful Vampire that Richter encounters, everything is pointed in that direction. But believe me, that is, at least for season 1, seemingly a misdirection. Not going to be naive and not think that Richter and Olrox won't cross paths and duke it out during the course of Nocturne.
Olrox is also a mid-boss from Symphony of the Night. He owns a part of the castle and Alucard has to beat him. No dialogue or any kind of arc, but he is a boss and if not prepared, Olrox could give Alucard a run for his money.
Speaking of Alucard..........
The son of Dracula is back and he is no myth. He is but a mere teaser though since he literally appears for the last scene of the final episode of the Season. Yeah, he's back and he's pale white! Very excited to see where this is going to go. Was expecting him to sit this one out until the next series (if they are going to go off the Symphony of the Night storyline), but hey, he's always welcome.
Can't wait for season 2!
Until Next Time!
I wasn't a fan of the first Castlevania Netflix series, so I wasn't planning to watch this, but Maria's "moment" won't leave my head... so I might have to bite the bullet on this one. UPDATE: holy crap this is really bad
